The biological father of Leela’s newborn baby is officially revealed – and he’s not in the village
Hollyoaks fans are certain they’ve sussed out who the father of Leela Dexter’s new baby girl really is and it appears it’s neither her spouse Joel Dexter nor his sibling Abe Fielding.
The character, portrayed by Kirsty-Leigh Porter, welcomed a daughter this past week. However, husband Joel (enacted by Rory Douglas-Speed) was conspicuously absent, having been troubled by an unexpected voicemail from former flame Cleo McQueen (played by Nadine Mulkerrin), urging him to keep his distance.
As followers of the show are aware, Cleo finds herself a prisoner in Abes (Tyler Conti) apartment, with her loved ones under the impression she’s sunning in Bali. Joel’s disappearance after the message led Leela to demand he leave, and in an unforeseen development, her labour commenced with Abe stepping in to escort her to hospital.
While Leela successfully delivered a healthy child with a robust heartbeat, and Joel eventually reached the hospital, not all is at it seems.
During Wednesday’s (November 6) instalment, now up for grabs on Channel 4’s website, Mercedes McQueen (Jennifer Metcalfe) dropped by Leelas place. Here, she dropped heavy implications that Joel wasnt actually the baby daddy, reports the Liverpool Echo.
Mercedes confronted Leela: “You need to tell Joel or it’s only going to get worse.” To which the new mother responded: “I should have told him when it happened and I didn’t so now I’m just going to have to deal with it.”
Mercedes tried to reassure her friend, saying: “He’s not going to up and leave you, he’ll understand. He’s a good guy.” Meanwhile, Leela expressed her fears: “You haven’t seen how besotted he is. All he’s ever wanted is to be a daddy and now he’s got a chance. Mercedes, he’s already lost one baby I can not take another one away.”
The scene intensified as Mercedes urged: “If you don’t tell the truth and that comes out.” To which Leela defiantly responded: “It won’t. As far as he’s concerned, and everybody else, that baby is his.:”.
Speculation was rife on social media with one fan theorising: “Possible Dodger that’s why he coming back in.”
Another speculated further: “Abe is too obvious so maybe it’s Dodger.” Consequently, a third chimed in: “I think she had a one night stand with some random, who may well turn out to be Dodger?.”
In a thrilling update for fans, it has been announced that Danny Mac is poised for a dramatic return to Hollyoaks as Dodger Savage, marking a whole ten years since the character left the Cheshire village of the Channel 4 soap.
Discussing his much-anticipated comeback, Danny revealed: “After a decade away, I’m thrilled to be returning and reuniting with my incredible co-stars, old friends and a character very close to my heart.”
Elaborating on his character’s journey, Danny explained: “Dodger escaped, leaving a great deal behind. I’ve always wondered whether he could return and who he might have become in the 10 years since he ran away. Now that he’s back, there’s a lot to uncover, but one way or another, we will finally find out.”
