Hollyoaks spoilers follow for Wednesday’s episode (November 6), which is available to watch now on streaming service Channel 4 and hasn’t yet aired on TV.
Hollyoaks has confirmed a major twist about Leela Lomax after the birth of her child, in the show’s latest episode.
After the show’s time jump in September, it was revealed that Leela was pregnant again – a heartwarming development after she and Joel tragically lost their baby Noah.
But as Joel looked to the future in these early scenes, Leela looked worried, and it appeared that all was not as it seemed.
This week, Leela went into labour early, but Joel was busy looking for Cleo when he thought he heard her singing in Abe’s flat.
While Leela was worried that something would go wrong, her baby daughter was delivered safely. However, as she and Joel met their new arrival, Leela became very emotional.
In today’s episode, Leela and Joel returned home from hospital with their daughter, but as the rest of the family celebrated, Leela looked overwhelmed and nervous.
She didn’t want to pose in family photos and decided to have a lie down, leaving Joel concerned about his wife’s wellbeing.
Joel expressed these concerns to Grace, Zoe and Prince in Casa McQueen, and they reassured him that it is normal for Leela’s emotions to be all over the place after giving birth.
Meanwhile, Mercedes called round to see Leela, and Leela admitted that she has been so concerned about delivering a healthy baby that she put any other worries to one side.
She spoke about what happened during the missing year, something that Mercedes seemed to know about already, and it became clear that Leela’s baby is not Joel’s.
“Every time I see her and Joel together, it makes me feel sick,” she said. “What am I going to do?”
Mercedes urged Leela to tell Joel the truth, but Leela was resigned to the fact that she would have to live with her infidelity as she didn’t want to take another baby away from him.
She declared: “As far as he’s concerned, and anybody else, that baby is his.”
