Heartbreak and Hidden Motives: Vic’s Romantic Plans Shaken, Terese’s Secrets Threatened as Melanie Plans an Exit and the Gas Leak Mystery Deepens”
Monday, October 4
Vic invites Jane to view the pub in Gippsland that he’s thinking of buying, and the pair enjoy a day of romantic country ambience. When they begin to share their vision for the future, Vic is disappointed to hear that she isn’t on board with the prospect of owning a boozer.
Meanwhile, Melanie has decided she can’t watch someone she has feelings for move on, especially not after Toadie, so tells Krista she’s planning to leave Erinsborough forever.
Vic and Jane later run into her and explain about the pub purchase, and Mel is genuinely happy. However, Jane is left confused as to how she already knew about his ambitions.
Caught out, he’s forced to admit that they matched on a dating app.
What will this mean for Jane?
Post-Halloween celebrations, Byron, Nicolette, Aaron (Matt Wilson) and Sadie (Emerald Chan) urge Vera to open up about her monetary woes. She admits that she’s had to sell her house due to a gambling addiction.
Sympathetic Byron reasons to let her stay, but Nic isn’t a happy bunny. He opens up about his guilty regarding her missing Mackenzie and Haz’s wedding, plus the financial windfall he and Nic have just had means they should be more generous – even if its just a temporary arrangement.
However, when Vera shows up with boxes of cat figures and announces she’s going skinny dipping in the pool, they’re left wondering what they’ve just agreed to.
Paul takes Terese’s car for repair and checks the crash site for any part of her taillight left behind. When he returns, he finds his ex-wife stressed by Vera’s mission to discover who has been putting empty wine bottles in her bin.
She realises that it’s only a matter of time before the other locals work out her problem and connect her to the gas leak incident. Paul urges her to focus on the fact that the police are at a dead end.
He gently asks her how long it has been since she kickstarted her addiction again, and he realises the timeline fits with when he stopped taking her calls. Paul is ridden with guilt.
Later, Terese promises to keep away from the bottle – but troubling flashbacks to Gino (Shane McNamara) in hospital are too much to bare.

Mel explains she didn’t tell Jane about her date with Vic for fears she would be labelled as a home wrecker. She tells them both that she’s looking ahead to a new future away from Ramsay Street, and Jane clocks how bothered Vic is by this.
The next day, she asks him to check if he’s sure he doesn’t have feelings for her. Vic sees Mel, who admits she had imagined a future for them both.
Meanwhile, Byron has hundreds of questions for his mum about getting back with his dad, and points out that she keeps calling him ‘Mike.’
As a result, Jane tells Mel to pursue a relationship with Vic if she’s interested. Melanie insists she’s still leaving town, but is left shaken by the realisation she could have a man on her arm.
Andrew (Lloyd Will) clears Felix (James Beaufort) living on the street with Remi (Naomi Rukavina) and Cara (Sara West), who are agreeable as long as JJ (Riley Bryant) and Dex (Marley Williams) agree.
However, Remi is concerned that her wife is considering the prospect of him being their donor. Cara insists she isn’t, and explains her worries about using someone anonymous.
Elsewhere, Paul wakes up on Terese’s sofa and urges her to get help. Susan (Jackie Woodburne) spots him leaving and assumes they’ve hooked up – and to make matters worse, Terese does nothing to convince her otherwise.
Her guilt soon rises when she discovers the driver of the linen delivery truck has confessed to knocking the gas pipe, believing he’s responsible. The driver has been fired and may face police charges.
